2014 NBA All-Star Game Review

After watching the game or if your looking at the box score you can only come to one conclusion, there most of been no defense played at all. This was a record breaking All-Star game with points scored in a game, individual players scoring at will and showing off their offensive talents.

This was the most points scored in an NBA All-Star game with a combined score of 318 points, when the previous record was 303 points. Carmelo Anthony set a record for the most three's made with eight while also scoring a total of 30 points. Kevin Durant set a record for the most three point attempts with 17, but more shocking was him missing 13 of them, but he still did finish with 50% shooting. Blake Griffin nearly broke the NBA record for scoring finishing with 38 points only missing the mark by 4 points which was held by Wilt Chamberlain's 42 points. Blake Griffin did break the record for field goals made with 19.

The MVP of the All-Star Game goes to Kyrie Irving who tied a record for most points in a single half with 24 points tying Glen Rice who last did it 1997. Kyrie Irving finished the game with 31 points, 14 assists and 5 rebounds in an effort to help lead the East to a comeback win 163-155.

2014 Slam Dunk Contest

In the dunk contest you had the two teams made up of East & West Players, first was a freestyle round and the second was the battle round where each player from each conference would battle one on one and judges would decide who won each battle, first team to three individual wins would be named the winning conference and then there would be a vote by the fans for the individual slam dunker of the night. The participants were;

From the East Paul George (Indiana Pacers), Terrance Ross (Toronto Raptors) and John Wall (Washington Wizards) and

From the West you had Ben Mclemore (Sacramento Kings), Damian Lillard (Portland Trailblazers) and Harrison Barnes (Golden State Warriors).

For the First time in a very long time it seemed the Dunk contest was back, the creativity was there, the dunks were made on the first try for the most part, the crowd as much as the players were enjoying themselves and cheering on the competition. The Rules were different, basically made this a tag team of sorts for a dunk contest especially with the first round being a freestyle exhibition and then each facing off individually. The East team provided a clean sweep in the events & went three for three in the one on one match ups

 and John Wall took the award voted by the fans for the Slam Dunker of the night
